"I must write it all out, at any cost. Writing is thinking. It is more than living, for it is being conscious of living." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

How I have learned from your writing, Dawn -- first about tangles and then about dusting and now about clay and paper. This post is beautiful and vulnerable and inspiring...I love the notion of exploring -- deeply -- why we do what we do. You catalogue some of the reasons (not all, I suspect!) you write and I can almost see the process (and your processing) behind it...why you write, how your write, what you think that means, what you still have questions about, where it might end up, and the list goes on. I love that. Thank you for modeling that for me!

And this quote is one that I have already written down...
"Convince yourself that you are working in clay, not marble, on paper, not eternal bronze; let that first sentence be as stupid as it wishes. No one will rush out and print it as it stands. Just put it down; then another.” (Jacques Barzun, historian and essayist)

Glad you are sharing some of your writing with a larger audience...I think it will lead you in many new directions and I'm glad to be able to peek into your journal pages for a time or two....
